David Albion Simmons 
November 19, 1946  -  August 25, 2025

David Albion Simmons, Sr., affectionately called "Papi" by his kids, died peacefully on August 25, 2025 surrounded by his wife and children. He is now Home with his parents, Clarence and Christina, and other family who passed before him.

David was born in Pennsylvania to parents who served in the Salvation Army church. He studied civil engineering and attended the Art Institute of Boston. He also received degrees in Biblical Studies and Marketing, and worked for Digital Equipment Corporation for many years.

David was a proud Navy veteran, having volunteered to serve with the Seabees during the Vietnam War.

He was an artist as well as an avid genealogist, researching several ancestral trees that will be treasured by the family. David also loved to travel and meet new people and hear their stories-he was quite the talker! He had a big heart and treated his dogs like his "babies".

David is survived by his wife, Maria De Jesus Ibanez, his children, David Simmons, Jr., daughter-in-law Marie-Eve Jacques, granddaughter Annika, and daughter Martha Simmons, their mother, Christine (Kuehn) Simmons Wayman and her husband David Wayman, and his brother George Simmons and his family and their loving cousins.

He is also remembered by his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Hernando, Eduardo, Gladys, and Jenny Ibanez and their families, and the family of Guillermo Ibanez, and will be missed by his many nieces and nephews in Arizona and Bogota, Colombia, including Angelica Ibanez, Liz Flynn, Felipe Nino, and Mike Nino, and their families. David will be laid to rest at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix, AZ.
