Two Army Reserve soldiers from the Buffalo area were killed Tuesday when an armored vehicle overturned during training exercises at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.

Sgt. Herbert V. Revill , 43, of Grand Island and Sgt. Philip Struebel, 40, of Kenmore were killed in the accident, according to Capt. Duane Stefens of the 98th Division, Army Reserve.

The accident happened about 10 a.m. Tuesday as four soldiers were riding in an M-9 armored combat earth mover.

The vehicle left the road on the Normandy training area of Fort Leonard Wood and overturned, according to a spokesman at the fort.

Stefens said the reservists, assigned to D Company of the 98th Division, based at the Army Reserve Center, 100 N. Forest Road, Amherst, were in their first day of using the equipment as part of their annual summer training.

Revill had 20 years of service in the Army.
