Tony and I were friends in Jr. High and High School. We played on the 9th grade basketball team together. He attended our class reunion in 2014. We saw each other infrequently during the years, but Tony always had a joke and a great story to tell. He spoke of the problems he had working as an officer for some 25 years in the Buffalo Police Department, and how working there was the reason for his multiple heart attacks. Being shot in the line of duty was another story. One of his best was that his parents weren't well known in Kenmore because they did not fit in with the neighborhood. He blamed that on the fact that they were former citizens of  The Vatican.

But to really appreciate Tony, you had to sit with him, sip a glass of red wine, and enjoy one of those delicious Italian dinners at his restaurant in Kenmore. He insisted he cooked every meal himself with his home-cooked sauces, but  .  .  .

I'm sure going to miss him.

Knew Tony in school but really got to know him better during the planning stages of our 50th Reunion. We often met at Manzella's Restaurant and relived our pasts. Very glad Tony survived his career as a Cop and went on to develop a great restaurant. RIP Tony!

Tony will be sadly missed. He was my husbands childhood best friend growing up in North Buffalo. They lived next door to each other. He was a man of quick wit sometimes too quick. He was such a good hearted generous person who loved his family and friends. No one mentioned it but he also owned a security company after his retirement from the Buffalo PD. They did the security for the Bills games, Shea's and many verues that came to the city. Owning a restruant was a dream which came true for him. Every time we went there he was sitting at the bar with his glass of red wine always a kiss for me and a hug or handshake for my husband. Yes Ron he made the sauce for the entree's and loved doing it. My husband and I will miss him . RIP dear Tony. Mike and I will never forget you.
