A Mass of Christian Burial for JoAnn Fik, a longtime Kenmore resident who was active in Girl Scouts and her church, will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Paul's Catholic Church, Delaware Avenue and Victoria Boulevard, Kenmore.
Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.
Mrs. Fik died Sunday (May 28, 1995) in her home after a long battle with cancer. She was 48.
A third-generation Kenmore resident, Mrs. Fik graduated from Kenmore West High School in 1964. She was one of the first women to graduate from the mechanical technology program at the State College of Agriculture & Technology at Alfred 1966.
She worked as a draftsman for Carborundum Co. in Niagara Falls and later for the Erie County Highway Department. Her most recent job was library clerk for the Kenmore-Tonawanda schools.
She was an active volunteer at St. Paul's Church and its school. She served as school librarian for several years. She was an assistant leader of Girl Scout Troop 4.
She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Roger; a daughter, Andra Fik Jansen; and her mother, Josephine Nashek.

This is very sad to me as JoAnn was always laughing, always smiling, I never saw her any other way, and that she was also Beverly Bernd's cousin makes it sadder for me....such a fine family and two wonderful girls from our class......miss you JoAnn.........xo

Joann was always so much fun to be around. We were in Girl Scouts together and were friends for many years. She had a heart of gold and a wonderful sense of humor. You are missed.
